We had so much fun last year that the kids wanted to go back to Big Bear this winter. Our Tuong Vi is still too little so Thanh & Huyen decided not to go as well as Mom & Dad. Thus this time there were only 5 of us, fit nicely in my roomy Honda Element.

Highest temperature in Big Bear was 55 degree so it was not that cold. In fact, it was sunshine the whole week that there was not much snow left on the trees or roads. Clean roads and no traffic helped us to get there fast in only 2 hrs (vs. 7 hours last year with crowded traffic and icy roads).

This time we stayed at the same location GoldenBear but different cabin: a smaller 2 rooms cabin named the Knotty Pine (#7). There were total of 4 beds so Danny got his own bed for the first time ever! Brave little boy; he wasn't scared at all.

With good weather condition, the Alpine Slide opened all its rides: snow tubes ($25.00 unlimited rides), go-carts & slides ($4.00). Best part of all is that it was not crowded; we didn't have to wait long for our turn to ride.

We all had a good time, especially the kids. It was great to get out of town once in a while.

Got a good deal for 6 nites hotel ($360.00/person for air + hotel) so we didn't hesitate much when deciding to take the whole family to Honolulu for some relax times. The Castle Hokele Suites Hotel is in a very convenient location; few minutes walk to the beach as well as to the International Market where we love to go for foods & shopping.

The kids enjoyed the beach the most; they wanted to go to the beach every day. They're just like the fish, have to be in the water otherwise they would not be happy :).

Besides Waikiki beach, we drove along the coastline to North Shore and stopped along the way for those famous beaches like Hanauma Bay, Kailua, Waimanalo, Turtle Bay, Waimea Bay, etc. We also didn't forget to visit the Polynesian center, a nice place to experience the Polynesian life and the Pearl Harbor which is full of historical stories. A short boat visit to USS Arizona Memorial is recommended to pay tribute to the men and women passed away in that historical day: Japan's attack on December 7, 1941.
